Album Name: Pennies in a Jar
Website Address:
Music Style: singer/songwriter
Influences: Carol King

[I’ve called this album “Pennies in a Jar” because that image captures something about who I want to be. To put pennies in a jar is to be optimistic about a future and yet to be rooted in the present. It reflects a faith that our small quotidian actions do in fact amount to something important. It measures achievement in the little, unremarkable ways we live and love. It is a spiritual act of quiet, gentle wisdom, like a daily meditation. Not that these songs are quietly meditative. They are playful, passionate, sad, and even bawdy. But this collection of songs is my pennies in a jar – small offerings which come from my spirit and hopefully, taken together, amount to something.]

Band Name: Glass House

Band Name:  Glass House
Album Name: Long Way Down
Music Style: Adult Contemporary

[With over twenty-three years of working together, David Worm and Mark Vickness have shared much more than a passion for great songwriting. From personal tragedy to the joy of raising children, through all the changes of the last two decades, these musicians have made writing songs together a constant thread, a platform on which to build not just a body of work but a lifelong friendship and a musical chemistry that infuses every song.

Over the years, David and Mark have worked with many phenomenal musicians. That trend continues on their third CD, Long Way Down. Producer/bassist Jon Evans is well-known for his years recording and touring with Tori Amos and Third Eye Blind. Two time Grammy winners, The Turtle Island String Quartet contribute their remarkable talents on two songs. Also appearing are drummers Scott Amendola (Charlie Hunter), L.A. studio ace, MB Gordy (Frank Zappa, Green Day, Bill Withers), tabla virtuoso Ty Burhoe, violinist Mads Tolling (Stanley Clarke) and vocalists Ashling Cole (Prince) and Julianna Graffagna (Kitka).

Pooling influences ranging from Sting to Peter Gabriel and Dave Matthews to Jason Mraz, Long Way Down is a tour de force of Mark’s intricate, layered guitars and David’s soaring, blues inflected vocals. This CD reflects the full range of Glass House Music, from the sparsely haunting solo acoustic guitar and voice rendition of Robbie Robertson’s Broken Arrow, the funk string quartet intro to Turn Away to the driving, world music infused choral tapestry of Build A Bridge. Lyrics run the gamut from tender personal pathos (For Now, Thank You) to timely political and social narratives (Turn Away, Where I Belong). Widely-acclaimed YouTube videos by Glass House Music have been viewed by hundreds of thousands of fans. When the live version video of Broken Arrow was first released, it was the seventh most-viewed youtube video according to, beating out Christina Aguilera’s “You Lost Me” and Pearl Jam’s “Unthought Known."]

Band Name: Low Rent

Band Name: Low Rent
Album Name: Words On The Wind

Music Style: Alternative Country
Influences: Country

[It’s hard to think alt-country in Melbourne without thinking Low Rent. After six years of slogging it out around the big city this sweet little band, with its large, faithful following, has scorched a burning brand on every urban cow-punk’s heart.

Headed up by singer/songwriter Dan Swan – the group also includes father Mike and brother Tim – Low Rent has gone from a country roots three piece to a six member outfit with Mike Landells on lead guitar, Regan Wood on drums and Cynthia Gallie supporting vocals. With musical interests spanning many genres, these desperados come together in Low Rent via a common love for country music.

While their sound carries within it some dust from the American plains, the original songs, entwined harmonies and anguished lyrics reaching through to a ghost-world of bad memories, make for a never-been-heard-before experience. The legend goes that they dug up a flat-top guitar from a grave on the prairie and kept the original tuning.

Following on from the debut EP Waiting to Fall, their new album Words on the Wind was recently launched at a sold-out show at the Thornbury Theatre May 25th, 2013 with special guest violinist, Luke Moller. The 9 songs – all originals – range from mandolin-tinged ballads to all out drums ‘n’ guitar rock – from the maudlin to the downright merry.]

Album Name: The Beatitudes-Fishers of men, Devil Get Out!

Website Address: L.

[The Lord has blessed me with so many songs I often loose count, if it wasn't for The Lord directing me to "Get it done" so to speak I guess all this wonderful spiritual expression would be lost forever. But Jesus put this in my heart and soul to share with everyone who will listen. Hey folks I'm just spreading the Gospel for the Lord. A-men. From Keg-Party Jammer to Holy Ghost filled Praise and Worship just about says it all. Was Lost but now found department. Praise the Lord! Thank You JESUS!

Are you stressed out! from trying to damage your brain with music overkill trying to get that satisfied feeling in your heart? If so check out this CD it won't relax you to the point that you don't want to do anything but will inspire you to realize how close the Lord (Jesus) really keeps us all spiritually together. You see! we must be careful about the high-tension over excited rush from the music associated with video games. It seems most new music is the same as if you were playing a game and not listening to the heart of the singer/player/writer/performer/etc.

Don't stress out so much. You can't meditate on God's word and listen to music that sounds like you're shooting aliens at the same time. The Lord is that soft calm unexplainable feeling from His word to us. It's a frustrating world we live in you must try to get as much peace as possible from day to day. Thanks for reading and God Bless, I am (with God's help) going to try to get the (CD-DVD-VCD-etc. into as many souls as he will let me. This is not a get famous deal I get a terrific feeling of joy from listening to the songs myself that's the difference of allowing God to influence the music you play. Hey "JESUS" plays a mean guitar. A-men.]

Saturday City

Saturday City
Website Address:

Music Style: americana/pop/rock
Influences: Big Star

Saturday City is a band led by the two brothers Magnus and Stian Gulbrandsen from Moss, Norway. They play what they call 'Soulfull americana/folkpop'. Although they are brothers they started playing in a band together a while after they were both well on the way with their own music careers. Stian as the guitarist in the 60s garage-rock outfit Death by Unga Bunga and Magnus as a guitarist in the powerpop group The Dahlmanns.
Saturday City was started as a result of them both having a lot of acoustic sounding material that did not fit in the other bands.
The brothers got together as a duo and quickly equaled, if not surpassed, their other bands in both national acclaim and achievement.
In 2011 they started recording their first EP themselves in the basement of their childhood home in Moss. The EP was released in 2012 to great reviews. The national music-magazine PlanB wrote they were among the best that was released in the folk/country-world that year, and they were voted "unsigned band of the week" on national radio. The songs "Catch A Flame" and "I'll Be Fine" both got a lot of radio play and formed a sort of base for their sound. The same year they performed at festivals such as ByLarm, Månefestivalen and Norwegian Wood. This year they  have been perfoming with a full band line-up at festivals such at the international acknowledged Øyafestivalen and Varnafestivalen.

Album Name:  With Loving Gratitude

As a child growing up in China, I heard music in my head all the time. I danced to the melodies that passed through my tiny mind, turning in circles while humming these mysterious sounds. We were very poor at that time and we didn’t have music. The only music I ever heard was in my head and I dreamed of becoming a composer. Of course, music lessons were impossible.

I never took lessons. I can’t read or write music. I hear music in my head and that is what I play. I can play the same piece a hundred times but I can’t write it down so someone suggested that I record it so it isn’t lost. Customers started asking if they could buy my CDs. I felt embarrassed because my recordings don’t sound as good as what I hear in my head but people insisted. I used one of my paintings on the case and started selling them in our restaurant. To make myself feel better about selling it, I said to myself, "I am not selling my music, but I am just selling my painting and it comes with music." Wow, it scared me! I sold about 500 CDs in just two months for $17.95 each. I was so happy because I had enough money to fix up my old piano. Even though I am still not allow to play music at home, I also bought another piano for my house.

*********The Story About This Album************ Music comes to me when I am sad. But ironically, this makes me happy because my sadness is translated into the prettiest music. When the music on this CD came to me, I felt tremendous gratitude. As I sat at the piano letting this music flow through me, I felt thankful for everything that I already have in life. I saw the image of me standing in the center of the world and looking up at the beautiful, vivid clouds racing through the sky and the world was turning and I was turning with it and praising God. I could see tears in my eyes and I fully experienced how blessed I really am.

Introducing Todd Norcross

Introducing Todd Norcross:-

Music Style: Rock/Instrumental

Album:- The Key of Life

Described as being "a multi-genre musical genius" and "the best musician in martial arts alive today", Todd Norcross has been writing and recording songs for over eighteen years. He earned a Degree in Sound Engineering and Advanced Music Production from the prestigious "Recording Workshop" school in 1997.

He has written, recorded and produced 28 albums and well over 500 hundred original songs ranging from pop and folk rock to Japanese and Celtic instrumentals and movie soundtrack scores. Although primarily a finger-picking guitarist, he also plays five other instruments. In 1998, he was recognized as being a "visionary of sound for the next generation of musicians".

My singing influences vary widely. I love Fleetwood Mac's diversity. In my opinion, there are no better harmonies on Earth than the Bee Gees. They still blow me away every time I hear them, especially their 80's and 90's stuff. The Mamas and the Papas were a great influence. The Beatles are icons to many, including myself.

[Thanks Todd, I really liked Downton Abbey Wedding.  Hope the sales keep coming.  John]

1st artist review for John Luckey

My first review for Music Submit is a pleasure to do. After several hours of struggling with a computer I was sorting out for my mother, I came to my study to find an artist waiting to be reviewed. The artist in question is Mr John Luckey - although not formally trained, based in China but also lived in Denver, Colorado where his interest in the piano began aged ten.

The two tracks I listened to, both Far Journey and Loftiness, have good mood and character. These are both improvisations, using a keyboard/synthesizer which adds to the magic of the sound. I certainly felt chilled out and relaxed after listening and give Mr Luckey five stars.

You can visit John's web page here There are plenty of options to listen to his music.

Good luck John, I wish you every success.
